Proper Preservation Starts with the Right Steps
Preserving your wedding gown isn’t just about boxing it up. It’s about protecting it properly, from the inside out. At Missouri Gown Preservation, we follow a proven three-part process: cleaning, preservation, and storage. Each step plays a crucial role in keeping your gown looking its best for decades to come.

Our Proven Process
1
Cleaning
The Foundation of Preservation
Every gown goes through a thorough inspection and professional cleaning before preservation begins. That’s because the biggest threats to your dress, like sugar stains, sweat, makeup, or champagne, often go unseen. Left untreated, they can lead to yellowing, oxidation, and permanent damage over time.
We work with expert cleaners who specialize in bridal textiles. From lace and tulle to delicate beadwork and appliqués, your gown, veil, and accessories are treated with precision and care.
2
Preservation
Museum-Quality Materials, No Shortcuts
Once your gown is fully cleaned and inspected, we begin the preservation process using proprietary materials trusted by textile conservators:
-
Fluted Polypropylene box (not cardboard)
-
Acid-free, unbuffered tissue
-
Breathable muslin liner & wrap
Our method is unsealed, meaning you can access your gown without voiding any "warranty". This also prevents permanent creasing, fabric breakdown, and damage caused by adhesives or humidity. It’s the safest long-term option available, and it's the one we trust for every gown.
3
Storage
Keeping It Beautiful for Years to Come
During your preservation consultation, we’ll walk you through how and where to store your preserved gown at home for lasting results. That means avoiding attics, basements, garages, and storage units, and choosing a stable, climate-controlled space like a closet, guest room, or under your bed.
We also recommend opening your box every couple of years to check on your dress and allow for movement. Preservation isn’t meant to seal your memories away, it’s meant to protect them.
